Myself: Paul Northcott

I'm a 61 year old British male (cisgender, heterosexual), based in the town of Penzance, in the county of Cornwall, South West England. I'm a psychotherapist and, by qualification, a PhD psychologist*. I've practised therapeutic psychology - i.e. psychotherapy - since the mid 1990s.

Formal credentials

I possess three degrees from British Universities: a PhD in Psychology (concerning psychotherapy and hypnosis), an MSc (distinction) in Information Systems, and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology (first class). I did my doctoral work under the supervision of a world-renowned psychologist who is a leading expert in the field of the psychology of consciousness. I have studied and trained at Counselling and Psychotherapy (PGDip level) in the Client Centred school of practice.

I'm a Senior Member of ACCPH (Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists). I'm a Registrant of Britain's National Hypnotherapy Society. I've been a graduate member of the British Psychological Society and the British Society of Experimental and Clinical Hypnosis. I'm eligible to be a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society.

Supporting my special interest in helping people with their sexual problems, I hold a Professional Certificate (Level 7) in Psychosexual Therapy from Britain's Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology

Personal credentials

I'm passionate over the subject of men’s sexual health and over helping clients to have the best erections and sex-life that they can.

I'm friendly, understanding, and not judgemental, and won't be shocked at anything you disclose.

I consider myself scholarly yet practical; analytical yet caring.

I'm also something of a rebel. For every client that may be deterred by this admission, I believe it attracts one that will especially benefit from my services. And I believe the rebel spirit - vision, dedication, intensity, scrutiny, purpose – is marshalled within my work to better help clients.

I hold an 'Enhanced DBS' certificate (issued through the NHS: National Health Service). This is the highest level of criminal record check commonly used in the UK for individuals working in regulated or sensitive roles.

I'm currently nearing completion of two year program for a Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy / Clinical Sexology and Relationship Therapy (Level 7).

Understood anguish

Negative effects of erection-related problems can be immense. One's self-esteem, relationships, and 'joy of life' can all be eroded and eventually shattered. Adding to the despair can be bewilderment over the problem, disappointment from remedial measures so far tried, and frustration due to not 'being heard' properly by those who should be sympathetic/helpful. Meanwhile, any and all these consequences can add to a vicious circle, in which the original problem(s) are only made worse.

I really 'get it'. A would-be client can have faith that with me one's plight will be genuinely understood. Given my understanding, a client is in the best possible position to be helped with the psychological factors at play.
